LI Bubble Soccer : Rules

Tournament Rules


Each team shall field 5-8 players depending on player numbers.

-Players who are free agents will be put together randomly based on gender needs.


- First round will be called the Preliminary round. It will be split into 2 groups if there are more than 4 teams. Each team in the group will play each other once. 

-Record then Point Score Differential will determine each team's seed.

-Second round will be called the Championship round. Standard tournament format will be used for brackets.


There will be a running clock. For the Preliminary round, there will be (1) 5-minute period. For the Championship round play will be divided into (2) 5-minute periods

Game clock will stop only during injury time outs or equipment malfunctions.

The Game/Scoring

- Kick-off- the ball will be placed in the center of the field at the beginning and after every goal scored.

- Only one player is allowed to run for possession. This player is identified by lining up on the kickoff line.

- Other players must stay on their side of the field until contact with the ball has been made. They may not interrupt the initial kick-off start. Any violation will result in the opposing team ball possession.

Ball in Bubble- the ball lands in a bubble, play will stop and the ball is retrieved. The referee will then conduct a "drop ball" with one member from each team.

Drop Ball- 1 player from each team will stand 5 yards away from the ball, as the ball hits the ground, each player may charge towards the ball to retrieve it.


Contact Penalty consist of

   -excessive aggression and force as judged by the referee.

   -intentional contact on a downed player or player not in vicinity of the ball

Players who commit a contact penalty will be warned, and may continue playing in the game.

-A player who receives a second contact penalty in a match will receive a 1 minute penalty box.

-A player who receives a third penalty will be ejected from the game and possibly suspended from the tournament.
